Episode 46. Everything You Need to Know Before Using CBD for Your Dog with Angela Ardolino

Angela is a lifelong animal lover who is the founder of CBD Dog Health, as well as the Your Natural Dog Podcast and online store.  Angela also runs a rescue farm with geese, chickens, ducks, pigs and more!

As a Pet Cannabis Expert and expert in holistic health for pets, I have so many questions for Angela.

I’ve been hearing about using CBD – for both pets and people – for the last several years. In fact, my dog Penny takes it for arthritis.  Some people swear that CBD has been a huge help for them or their dog. Some people think it’s snake oil.  I didn’t always know what to believe or how to find a trustworthy product. I’ve had questions. And Angela answers all of them!

By the end of this episode, you’ll feel confident about how to choose a high-quality CBD product to benefit your dog and understand why CBD is recommended for so many different health issues.

Special thanks to Angela and her rockstar team!

Top 7 CBD Takeaways:

  1. CBD is a slang term for full spectrum hemp extract

  2. Full spectrum hemp extract contains trace amounts of the THC compound and is a more pure, less processed product.  Broad spectrum products have been further processed to remove all THC.

  3. THC isn’t dangerous for our dogs – and certainly not in the amounts found in Full Spectrum Hemp Extract products.

  4. Health benefits and studies showing the benefits of CBD for various health issues are all referring to Full Spectrum products.  You can’t use a Broad Spectrum product and expect the same results.

  5. Dogs have more endocannabinoid receptors than any other animal – including people!

  6. Always look for Certificates of Authenticity for CBD or any other plant-based product, such as essential oils, coconut oil, medicinal mushrooms. These should be readily available on any company’s website.  The COA should be from a 3rd party independent laboratory and not from the same company as the product.

  7. The reason why CBD is recommended for so many different health issues is because most health issues start with inflammation.
