Episode 27, Part 2.  Creating a Humane Education Career with Jennifer Ganz, School Psychologist.

In Part 2 with Jennifer Ganz, we’ll hear more about her work with students, the 20+ dogs she’s fostered for animal rescue organizations and the social club she started for sighthound dogs in the Baltimore area.

I give some background on the Project Mickey Humane Education Program. (Trigger Warning for mentioning animal abuse.)  And also discuss the connection between Adverse Childhood Experiences and how more animal-assisted programs could help.

While Jen has been kind enough to share her individual experiences with us, please note that she is not representing any specific school, district or institution.

In Part 2, Jen & I discuss:

  • Connecting with students during COVID-19;

  • The special dogs and the special people who donate their time to humane education programs;

  • Different ways Jen works animals into STEM lessons;

  • What back-to-school 2021 looks like;

  • The benefits of pets and humane education in schools;

  • What led to Jen starting to foster dogs for animal rescue organizations;

  • What Jen has learned from fostering 20+ dogs;

  • How Jen started the Charm City Sighthound Social group and why she thinks it’s important for these dogs to see dogs from their breed.
